Hello everyone!

Sorry it has been a while since I posted anything here. It's been a little busy here. So let me tell you what's been going on...

The Community Service that I am talking about is not the 'court ordered' kind. It is helping others by serving the community. We love to give a helping hand and makes us feel very overjoyed and warm inside when we learn that we made their lives a little better.

Community service, to me is not just serving people food, or giving them clothes. It is sometimes hard work and difficult to 'want' to do it. For example, when an elderly woman needs help with her driveway in the winter, but she only has a shovel...it can be hard to work on that driveway, with the attitude of "Oh, I love this! I'm having so much fun! This is so easy." Instead, we say one thing and sometimes mean another. "I can shovel the long driveway for you. It's no problem at all. I'd love to." Then, as we are shoveling, "Why did I open my big mouth and say I would do this?! That was really stupid!"

Service can be hard work, but the blessings that follow are so much better than if we never tried to help at all. Since I came to the church, we have been doing so many different things! It started with remodeling. That alone was hard work! We cleaned out the entire back room so the professionals could get in there and fix it up. Now let me tell you, the blessings that came after the remodeling was finished were amazing! We were able to open a food pantry and a soup kitchen, to feed the community! We became involved with Feeding America, who are all amazing people! We are now able to help feed so many people.

The soup kitchen and food pantry aren't the only community service we do. We also help others try to find a place to live and receive the important papers that they need. I was able to work with a homeless couple recently and found them a place! Now, they are able to stay warm and he found a job as well! And me?... Well, I found new friends. The blessings of happiness and warmth come over me when I am able to help others.

We are now working on something new that we just started on 2 weeks ago. We have A.A. / N.A. Meetings every Saturday. So far, it seems to be going very well. We are filled with hope, as we reach out to others.

So you see, community service, whether it is court ordered or not is a lot of work. But we stick with it. We push through it. We challenge ourselves...And the blessings that follow make it all worth it! Just a little bit of kindness can go a long way. I thank you for your time and hope that everyone is doing well.

Take care and God Bless,
